Planer Machine with a Motor-Generator

Modernization of the Planer machine with a Motor-Generator (Generator-Motor (GM) system)

Type of the engine installed: engine 60 V, 330 A

A Servo Converter XDC Series with a special design was installed on the machine with the following technical specifications:
- rated supply voltage of the power unit – 380V
- rated output voltage – 60 V
- rated output current 330 А
- analog reference ±10 V
- speed feedback sensor– Compensation mode I*R.

The motor-generator and a relay excitation control system were replaced on the Servo Converter XDC Series on this machine.

The special feature of this modernization is an electric motor operation with a rated armature voltage of 60V from the Servo Converter XDC Series with a power supply 380V without the use of a reducing transformer. This became possible due to the capabilities of the Servo Converter XDC Series to limit the maximum PWM and the use of the serial converting throttle.

The reason for replacing the electric drive was the non-repairable existing control system.
